Script Writing
The genre horror is a film genre that is scary for entertainment purposes only. The intended audience for this type of film consists of younger audiences because they are most likely to seek thrill. The purpose of horror movies is to give the viewer an insight on their biggest fears and worst nightmares.
Based on my research when doing a script writing/doing a screenplay for the genre horror, I have found that doing horror screenplay is different from other types. Provided that, a horror script must have certain aspects in order to follow the conventions of a horror film like scaring and giving the directed audience a adrenaline rush that they were expecting in the horror film.
Some key things script writers include in their script writes:
- More action than dialogue- this allows the audience to see what the character is afraid or instead of just telling the.
- Mounting suspense/jump scares- Start the story at a steady pace and the action to take viewer by surprise. For the jump scares, they must consist of noises or unexpected things to make the viewer jump.
- A villain or monster- anything that's beyond control. This helps the audience to understand what drives the entity to do something or what their capable of.
These three pictures are images of my groups script write. In this script write, it consist of the scenes, if its ext or int, where its taking place, transitions if needed, dialogue, the actors name for each piece of the dialogue, or a description that happened in the scene. Once we finalized that we turned it and a few days after our teacher told us things we were supposed to fix for instance that dialogue. At first we didn't input it as a dialogue but as action so we had to change it to dialogue and add our names for the particular dialogue were going to be saying.
